You cannot improve a commute program you do not measure. Success metrics should align with why you started: parking relief, TRP compliance, cost savings, or ESG reporting.
Core metrics to track
- Active carpoolers (employees in at least one shared trip per month)
- Carpool trips logged (not just registrations)
- Estimated vehicles removed from peak arrival (riders per trip)
- Drive-alone rate before and after program push
- Parking permits or stalls freed
Tie data to worksites
Multi-campus employers need site-level views. Aggregate by worksite slug or location so regional managers see their own participation, not a company-wide average that hides zeros.
Report on a cadence
Monthly operational reviews, quarterly leadership summaries, and annual TRP submissions each need different granularity. Export-friendly tools avoid rebuilding the same spreadsheet every cycle.
